April Rathburn McCarty, age 31 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Emory University following a brief illness.
Born in Stephens County on January 4, 1979, she was the daughter of Martha Marie Cook and the late Dewey Rayford Rathburn.Mrs. McCarty was of the Baptist faith and a private duty CNA. She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Rayford Rathburn.
Surviving are husband, Derrick Wade McCarty of Cleveland; daughters, Candice Fleming of Clearwater FL, Abbigail Fleming and Elissa Cagle of Demorest; mother, Martha Holden Cook of Demorest; sisters, Charlet Corle of Cleveland and Christy Dutton of Demorest; brother, Phillip Ritchie of Greenville SC; she is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
April’s wishes were to be cremated with a memorial service being held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 2 pm on Monday.The family is at the residence of her sister, Christy Dutton.
