Bessie Mae Poole

January 6, 1934 — August 28, 2017

Bessie Mae Welborn Poole entered eternal life on August 28, 2017. Her beautiful spirit is carried on by her 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grands, one surviving sibling, and an extended family of “kin” and friends from all walks of life. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bessie Mae during her 83 years, among them: never throw away ice cream buckets, jars, bottles, butter bowls, bags, old t-shirts, styrofoam trays, pie pans, panty hose, knee highs, cans, anything useful or that she thought was useful! The most important lesson that she wanted everyone to learn is “If you love Jesus, you love everything!” Bessie wanted assurance from her family and friends that she would see them in Heaven, the salvation of others worried her the most!

She was known for her love of Jesus and cooking! Around the holidays, she would make many meals for her family and friends, but her specialty was her candies! These were her “gifts” to all. The homemade peanut brittle she made was like nonother!

Bessie is survived by her beloved dog Deuce and her children, Janet and Matt Hayes, Debbie Turner, Nora and Doug Sosebee, Brenda Hix, brother Earl and Charlotte Welborn, brother-in-law Gene Coalley, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grands; numerous family and friends. Bessie is reunited with her husband Cecil, mama and daddy, Logan and Alberta Welborn, and 3 siblings.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Friday, September 1, 2017 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in White Hall Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Robin Welborn and Mr. Shane Welborn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
