Betty Simmons Haro passed away November 18, 2017 of Alzheimer’s disease just hours beyond her 86th birthday. She was born in Baldwin, Georgia on November 17, 1931 to the late Johnny Simmons and Doshua Broome Simmons. She was one of eighteen children.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lauro Lee Haro and 16 siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Barrett Rodman of Demorest, Georgia; step children, Kathy Haro of Arizona, Diana DeMiglignon (James) of Arizona, Ernie Haro (Valerie) of California, Patrick Haro of Nevada and Paul Haro (Lisa) of California; sister, Ruth Caufman of Stockbridge, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Betty was most proud of her 38 year career with Motorola. As one of the first female executives for Motorola she traveled extensively in a male dominated business world. Betty was loved by customers who continued to keep in touch years after retirement.

Mrs. Haro was a two time breast cancer survivor who never wavered in her faith. Later in life she took up Bible reading again. She was a life-long Baptist.

Betty loved her family and spoiled them all. She was as generous with extended family and friends. She loved to shop, especially for others. Therefore, in honor of Betty’s giving spirit we request a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. A receptacle is available at McGahee-Griffin and Stewart.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Rice officiating.
