Charles Winston Hill, age 83 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013.
Born in Habersham County on August 17, 1929, he was a son of the late Jay Douglas and Bertha Mae Dixon Hill. Mr. Hill was retired from Clarkesville Mill and was a member of Habersham Baptist Church. He was a life-long resident of the Habersham Mills area. Mr. Hill was an avid racing fan and enjoyed listening to classic country music as well as meeting with the breakfast club at Country Crossroads Café.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was also preceded in death by brothers, James Reeves and Edward Hugh “Boots” Hill.
Survivors include sisters, Doris H. Ledbetter of Dahlonega, Lois H. Walls of Clarkesville, Carolyn Thompson of Clayton, Margaret Batson of Baldwin, Ruth Goss(Danny) of Dahlonega, Peggy Burke(Dan) of Clarkesville and Jan BarnetteI(John) of Clarkesville; sisters-in-law, Doris Hill of Cornelia and Joyce Hill of Demorest; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Steve Fenlon and Mr. Kenneth Goss officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Habersham Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 521, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
