Charles Mickler

Charles Lindberg Mickler, age 91 of Alto, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

Born in Alabama on April 24, 1930, he was a son of the late Henry and Mary Alice Lowe Mickler. Mr. Mickler worked in the Printing Department with Inland Container for many years and proudly served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. During his spare time, he loved traveling, reading his Bible and cooking breakfast. Mr. Mickler was a licensed minister for 70 years and was a missionary in Honduras where he met his wife Mary Ann.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Reggie Mickler; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Mary Ann Mickler of Alto; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles “Buzzy” Mickler of Griffin and Nathan & Stacie Mickler of Barnesville; daughters, Wanda Mickler of Jackson and Jennifer Mickler of Augusta; daughter-in-law and husband, Belinda M. & Rev. Nathan Gibbs of McDonough; grandchildren, Laura Harden, Dannah Mickler, Cayman Mickler, Maverick Mickler (Sable Bramblett) and Hawk Mickler; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny Mickler of Greenville, South Carolina, William & Nancy Mickler of Eatonton, Paul & Molly Mickler of Belle Haven, North Carolina; sisters, Dot Sayward of Fort Valley and Betty Ann Reed of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne & Rita Dorsey of Winder; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. John Umberhant and Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating. Funeral services will be live-streamed from the McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home Facebook page for those not able to attend. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Gibbs officiating and military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Chris & Laurie Nix and Stephen & Heather Dorsey.
