Claudius “Hugh” Smelley, age 99, of Lula, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015.
Born on June 12, 1916, in Lula, Georgia, he was a son of the late Claudius Jackson & Dassie Davis Smelley. Mr. Smelley was a self employed farmer and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lula.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jurelle Meeks Smelley; granddaughter, Torrey Smelley; sisters, Ruthie Smelley & Bertha Lee Griffin.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Dale & Joyce Smelley of Lula; granddaughter and spouse, Shanda & Justin; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Lott, all of Lula; other relatives & friends.
Funeral services are Scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 09, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lula with Rev. James Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 08, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
