Dollie Saxon Duncan

Dollie Saxon Duncan, age 97 of Alto, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014.
Born in White County on February 12, 1916, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Etta Hix Saxon. Mrs. Duncan was the oldest living member of Living Mission United Methodist Church. She began attending at the age of seven and was the church pianist for many years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing the piano and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Herman Duncan; daughters, Martha Meaders and Erie Wade; son-in-law, Stanley Crocker; brothers, Price Saxon and Claude Saxon; sisters, May Smith, Lona Smith, Carrie Jackson, Lillie Bell Thomas and Blanche Lewallen.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Gene Wade of Alto and Jeanette and Ray Norton of Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Broadus and Jo Duncan of Gainesville and Pastor James and Sandra Duncan of Homer; sister, Gertrude Armour of Lula; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor James Duncan and Pastor Deron Crocker officiating. Interment will follow in Living Mission United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Tuesday also from 2-4 & 6-9 pm on Wednesday.
