Doris Faith Davis, age 93, of Tyler, passed away in the late evening hours of Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born on January 4, 1920 in Georgetown, Texas to Martin Luther and Martha Florence Taylor Cates; they preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, E. J. Davis, on May 12, 1943 in Georgetown, and together began a nearly 60 year marriage full of family, love, and faith. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2002.
Doris worked for a short time as a teacher but quickly found that being a preacher’s wife was a full time job. Rev. Davis was the preacher at Pollard United Methodist in Tyler from 1968 – 1972, in which time the sanctuary was built. They moved back to Tyler in 1982 and again joined Pollard United Methodist Church. For the last 30 years, Doris was a fixture at Pollard where she was last a member of the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Scholarship Committee for the Tuesday Reading Club. Doris enjoyed music and loved to cook. She was very good at cooking and providing meals for anyone she could. Doris was also a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She had a deep and passionate love for the church and made sure to pass it along throughout her family. Through all the time and care she had for the church,
Doris’ family was always first. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In her later years, when she wasn’t able to do the things she used to do, Doris spent countless hours sending out cards with words of congratulations, welcome, sympathy and praise. She lived to put a smile on the face of anyone she could and loved being a huge part of her family and her church.
Doris is survived by one son, Jeff Davis, and wife Danna, of Cleveland, Georgia; one daughter, Janis Sirianni of Tyler; grandchildren, Ben Davis, and wife Anna, Casey Davis, and wife Allison, Cade Sirianni, and wife Abby, and Eve Sirianni; and by great-grandchildren, Averi Davis, Chloe Davis, Madison Sirianni, Vincent Sirianni, and Joey Sirianni.

Stephanie Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Carey Georgas, Ben Davis, Casey Davis, and Zach Calicutt serving as pallbearers.
