Earl R. Lovell, age 81, of Clarkesville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at his residence.
Born in Rabun County on April 20, 1933, he was a son of the late John Lovell, Jr. and Belle Martin Lovell. Mr. Lovell was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was retired from Lockheed. He was also a U.S. Army veteran having been stationed in Sallsburg, Germany. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lovell was also preceded in death by brothers, Buck and Claude Lovell; sister, Ethel McMahan and infant sister, Beulah Lovell.
Survivors include wife of 52 years, Frances Shirley Lovell of Clarkesville; sons, Stephen E. Lovell and John Douglass Lovell (Lynn) all of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Jonathan Lovell and Ashley Cobb both of Clarkesville; sister, Hazel Palmer of Loganville; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor Donnie Balenger and Pastor Oliver Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
