Mr. Edward L. “Ricky” King, Sr. was born on February 28, 1932 to the late Mrs. Luvenia and Mr. Leonard King. He transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
Edward graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Clark College in Atlanta. He retired from Atlanta Public Schools and also served in the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents, Edward was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard King and sister, Kathryn Wimby.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 22 years, Alma Jean Anderson King of Cornelia; five sons, Edward L. King, Jr., Ronald King, Fredrick (Valerie) King and Perry King all of Atlanta, Michael (Barbara) Wright of Cobb, County; sister, Barbara Williams; five grandchildren; two goddaughters, Dr. Sabrina Dukes McCombs and Stacie Trimiar; a host of nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Ernest Burns and Dr. Ann Nicely officiating. Interment will follow at 2 pm in Dawn Memorial Park in Decatur, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
