Edwin "Spur" Wiley

June 6, 1949 — July 4, 2015

Edwin “Spur” Wiley, age 66 of Alto, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015, at his residence.
Born in Hall County on June 6, 1949, he was a son of the late M. E. “Sharper” Wiley and Betty Pittman Wiley. Mr. Wiley was a retired self-employed carpenter and poultry farmer. Spur was an avid race fan having been a dirt track driver for over 40 years locally at Toccoa Speedway. He enjoyed watching wrestling and all of his animals, especially his beloved dog, Sadie. Mr. Wiley was of the Holiness faith and also served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Lethia Pittman & Alburn and Mabelle Wiley; niece, Kayla Smith.
Surviving are son, Tommy Wiley of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Davie & Charity Wiley of Alto; daughter, Dusty Shirley of Alto; sisters, Elaine Craven, Patsy Youngblood, and Pemelia Smith all of Alto; grandchildren, Dawson, Wiley, Jace Wiley, Brady Shirley, Kaylee Bonds, Skylar Wiley, Ashley Hartley, Hailey Hartley; former wife, Bernice Poole of Alto; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Funeral services are 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Yonah Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Fred Enlow officiating. Interment will follow in Clemons Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Trent Campbell officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post 84, Rabun County DAV Chapter 15, and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-9 pm on Monday.
