Elizabeth Nichols, age 98 of Suwannee and formerly of Habersham Mills, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Born in Habersham County on April 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Manley and Vicie Burton Jones. Mrs. Nichols spent most of her life in Habersham County until 1982, when she relocated to Suwannee. She was retired from Habersham Mills, where she was employed for many years, and was of the Baptist faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim West Nichols; son, Jimmy Nichols; four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are daughter, Janice Nichols Stewart of Suwannee; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle Nichols & Carroll Phillips of Lake Placid, FL; brother, Hoyt Jones of Clarkesville; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:30 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ronald Mote and Rev. Jerry Carnes officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until the service hour.
