Ernest V. Gibson, age 65 of Demorest, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County on April 6, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Donnie Nations Gibson. He was the former owner and operator of Gibson’s Body Shop and member of Clarkesville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trading.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson was also preceded in death by five siblings.
Survivors include loving wife of 27 years, Laura Gibson of Demorest; step son, Joe Donald Richmond, III of Glouster, VA; daughter and son-in-law, April & Hayden Saling of Archdale, NC; daughter, Stephanie Stafford of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, J. H. “Earl” & Jean Gibson of Clarkesville; sisters, Hazel Nation and Betty Gibson Winkler both of Demorest and Carolyn Martin of Clarkesville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Clarkesville Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Sunday and 6-8 pm on Monday.
