Eugene Herbert Mitchell, age 90 of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 26, 1930, he was a son of the late Herbert Ruff Mitchell and Lula Eanes Mitchell. He was a loving husband and devoted father who felt the importance of making people laugh. Mr. Mitchell was the Vice President of Mill Operations with Schnadig Corporation and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Lynne Duckworth Mitchell; son, Mark Eugene Mitchell; brothers, Roy Vincent Mitchell and Clifton Beverly Mitchell; sister, Gaynelle Mitchell Jones.
Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew Scott Mitchell of Atlanta, Phillip Wayne & Lisa Ann Mitchell of Bogart; daughter-in-law, Martha Elizabeth Bush Mitchell of Cornelia; grandchildren, Ben Smith, Brad Smith and Stephanie Yawn.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 pm, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ben Wilcox officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Habersham County Animal Shelter, 4231 Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
