Frances Stagner

December 31, 1969 — July 19, 2023

Frances Hefner Stagner, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Born in Mt. Airy, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. “Dick” Hefner and Emma Lou Harris Hefner. Frances was the co-owner and operator of Big A Monument Company and a member of Joy Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Stagner; brother, Henry Hefner; sisters, Jimmie Lou Hendrixson, Mable Stephens, and Maxine Hefner; and son-in-law, Dale Waters.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Gale Waters and Deana Wirth (David) all of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick “Fred” Stagner (April) of Mt. Airy; brother, Edward Hefner of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Justin, Trenton, Ethan, Logan and Rayann; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2023, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Chris Anderson, Rev. Brandon Hester, and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow in the Grant Reeves VFW Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 Cemetery Fund, 174 Cornelia Crossing Shopping Center, Cornelia, GA 30531, or to a charity of your choice.
