Frank Dotson, age 82 of Demorest, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his daughter’s residence.
Born on May 25, 1930 in Towns County, he was a son of the late Loy and Euna Sams Dotson. Mr. Dotson was a retired truck driver and of the Holiness faith. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dotson was a lifetime member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #15, where he served numerous offices in each chapter. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also volunteered at Sharing and Caring for a number of years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dotson was also preceded in death by his brothers, Loyd and Odell Dotson.
Survivors include wife of 59 years, Faye Brown Dotson of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & James Moss of Winder, Mary & Dwayne Smith of Demorest, and Jennifer & Mark Bryson of Cornelia; son, Danny Dotson of Mt. Airy; brothers, Carl Dotson of Idaho, Harold Dotson, Virginia, Dwight Dotson of South Carolina, Dale Dotson and Carol Dotson both of Young Harris, and Charley Dotson of Dalton; sister, Patricia Lovell of Young Harris; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Many Forks Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, PO Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Friday.
