Harry Stephens

Harry Lee Stephens, age 64, of Demorest, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011.
Born in Athens, GA on October 20, 1946, he was a son of the late Ernest Walter and Emma Archer Stephens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Davis. Mr. Stephens was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and as church treasurer. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men. Mr. Stephens was the Chief Financial Officer of Community Banks Shares, Inc. for 20 years. He was also a United States Army veteran, serving six years in the Army Reserves. Mr. Stephens was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Donna F. Stephens of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Todd O’Brien of Columbia, MD; son and daughter–in-law, Bartlett and Adrienne Stephens of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Madeline Jones, Emma O’Brien and Shane O’Brien; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Walter and Clover Stephens of Boise, ID; sister, Peggy Norman of Elizabeth, NJ; sister, Sara Flowers of Columbus; brother-in-law, Jimmy Davis of Danielsville; brother and sister-in-law, David and Phyllis Field of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 3:00 pm Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Cornelia United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Green and Dr. Jay Hughes officiating.
There will be a reception following the service, on Sunday, in the Cornelia UMC Fellowship Hall.
