Homer W. Holcomb, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, January 09, 2014 at his residence.
Born on December 30, 1933 in Sautee-Nacoochee, he was a son of the late Jasper Daniel and Naomi Smith Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was a very active member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher and Director. He was also a member of Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Vend Incorporated and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Holcomb was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Dwayne Holcomb; daughters, Tammy and Cammy Holcomb; sisters, Annie Mae Knight, Pauline Rogers and Pearl Allen.
Survivors include wife of 54 years, Louise Smith Holcomb of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin Harold and Julie Holcomb of Cumming and Brent and Crystal Holcomb of Commerce; grandchildren, Jarrett, Jayden and Jonathan Holcomb; brothers, J.D. Holcomb of Cornelia and Lawrence Holcomb of Chamblee; sisters, Ethel Bristol of Sautee and Oma Lee Crawford of Surgoinsville, Tennessee.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Duane Eller officiating.
The Men’s and Women’s Sunday School Class is requested to served as honorary pallbearers and should assemble at the church by 10:30 am on Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional or donations may be made to Hazel Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 243 Hazel Creek Church Road, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.
