Imogene Wade Stancil, age 80, of Alto, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born in Habersham County on June 22, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Ola Gailey Wade. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Sam James Stancil; son, Sammy Stancil; daughter, Mary Sue Foster; granddaughter, Shauna Bouchard; brothers, Issac, Artis, Vance, Odell and Cody Wade; sister, Elsie Holcomb. Mrs. Stancil was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and was the owner of Stancils Peach Orchard. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, farming and cooking for her family.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Johnny Wade of Alto; son and daughter–in-law, Randall and Vickie Foster of Alto; son, Dewayne Stancil of Alto; sisters, Irene Prachard of Cornelia, Joyce Jordan of Alto and Sandra Poole of Baldwin; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell and Rev. Anthony Shore officiating. Interment will follow in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday.
