James Campbell

James Robert “Jim” Campbell, age 84 of Clarkesville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on December 29, 1927, he was the son of the late James Robert, Sr. and Annie Marion Youngblood Campbell. Mr. Campbell was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a former deacon and a mission worker in Romania. He was retired from Sexton Foods as a food salesman and was a U.S. Marine veteran from the WWII era. In his spare time, Mr. Campbell enjoyed golfing, fishing and yard work.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was also preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Campbell; brothers, Richard and John Burton Campbell; sister, Laura Birdsong.
Survivors include loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie Campbell of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Cyndy Campbell of Mt. Airy; daughter, Claire Campbell of Clarkesville; grandson, Thomas Campbell of Mt. Airy; brother, Don Campbell of Mobile, AL; sister, Priscilla Coid of Mobile, AL.
Memorial services are 11:00 am Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Don Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
