James Crunkleton

James “Jim” Crunkleton, Jr., age 68 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Toccoa, GA on August 06, 1942, he was the son of Jeanette Moore Childs of Kennesaw and the late James Murlon Crunkleton, Sr. He was retired from Shaw Industries as a supervisor and served his country proudly in the 544th Transportation Company in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a former member of Hill Street Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Toccoa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, grilling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, surviving are wife of 47 years, Brenda Hogan Crunkleton of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Allen Ivester of Toccoa; son, Ken Crunkleton of Mt. Airy; sister, Joan Ruddell of Kennesaw, GA; sister, Penelope Pazouki of Maryland; brother, Robert “Bob” Crunkleton of Florida; grandchildren, Ashley Crunkleton, Hunter Crunkleton, Spencer Crunkleton and Anna Claire Ivester; grandchildren and spouses, Justin & Mandie Crunkleton and Jay & Candice Ivester; great grandchildren, McKenzie Mack, Braxton Crunkleton, Dawson Crunkleton and Kasen Crunkleton.
Memorial services are 2:00 pm Friday, January 28, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #84, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Thursday.
The family is at the residence.
