James William Loudermilk, age 72, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Habersham County on October 31, 1938, he was a son of the late Daniel and Rosie LaCount Loudermilk. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Russell, Haskell, Hilliard, Ray and Homer Loudermilk; sisters, Elleen Perry and Viola Williamson. He was a retired Hatchery Manager from Black Snake Hatchery. Mr Loudermilk was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a communications officer in Germany from 1956 until 1959 and he was also a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
He enjoyed working and spending time with the grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters Carla Lanier of Mt Airy, Paula Franklin of Mt. Airy sons and daughter–in-law, Randall and Michelle Loudermilk of Mt Airy, Jerry Loudermilk of Mt. Airy, Daniel Floyd Groves of Clarkesville; a brother, Garrison Loudermilk of Eatonton, GA; sisters, Wilma Edmonds of Toccoa, Margie Nicholson of Alpharetta, Dorothy Lathan of Clarkesville, half sister, Eunice Smith of Mt. Airy; 5 grandchildren, James Corie Loudermilk, Jami Len Loudermilk, Chelcie Leigh Ann Loudermilk, Branden Thomas Loudermilk and Rosie Summer Loudermilk; one great grandchild, Reagan Nicole Loudermilk; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Bryan Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2–4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday.
