Jerry Gordon Nix, age 70 of Alto, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at his daughter’s residence in Cleveland.
Born in Habersham County on November 15, 1943, he was a son of the late Gordon Washington Nix and Thelma Fry Nix. Mr. Nix was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was an avid fisherman. He was also of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Gerrell Nix; daughter, Sharon Nix; brother, Kenneth Nix.
Surviving are daughter, Tammy Pruitt of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina & John Freeman of Conyers and Tabitha & Casey Lee of Wewahitchka, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, James & Connie Nix of Gainesville; son, Terry Nix of Alto; step-daughter, Pamela Allen of Alto; step-sons, Luke Cochran and Danny Cochran both of Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Leon & Betty Nix of Clarkesville; brother, Calvin Nix of Toccoa; grandchildren, Trent Nix, Brent Nix, Kayla Cochran, Chelsey Cochran, Brooke Cochran, Shelby Carder, Kristina Dyer, Clay Brock, and Cody Lee; also several great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Danny O’Kelly and Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
