Joan Lewallen Kimbrell, age 84 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015.
Born in Banks County on May 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Imogene Rylee Lewallen. Mrs. Kimbrell was retired from Carwood Manufacturing and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and camping in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Kimbrell; brother, John Henry Lewallen; sister, Frances Turner.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Judy Lewallen and Sandra and Jeff Cowan all of Demorest; grandchildren, Barry, Brandon and Brandy Cowan, Billy Lewallen and Carla Evans; great grandchildren, Kayh Redmon and Justin Evans; brother, Felton Lewallen of Commerce.
Funeral services are 2 pm Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
