JOHN THOMAS NEW, age 54 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Born in Decatur, Georgia on February 23, 1963, he was a son of the late Pat New & the late Janice Shady Palmer. John was a Master Carpenter, having worked alongside his brother, Skip with their construction business, known as The Two New Crew. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father & mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dennis Palmer.
Survivors include his children, Traci Mitchell & fiancé, Roman DeLeon of Toccoa, GA; Teisha & Josh Holcombe of Baldwin, GA; Amber Link Harris & Justin Harris of Conyers, GA; brother, Skip New of Hiawassee, GA; sisters, Lisa Sipes & Shannon Traxler both of California; step-mother, Ellen New of Good Hope, GA; 5 grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, other relatives, & friends.
Mr. New’s wishes were to be cremated.
A memorial service honoring his life is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 05, 2017 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
