John Wesley “Johnny” Lockman, age 58, of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Habersham Medical Center.
Born on August 12, 1955 in Fulton County, Georgia, he was a son of the late Henry Grady and Lillie Mae Standridge Lockman. Mr. Lockman was formerly employed with The Oaks at Scenic View and was of the Baptist faith. Previously he had worked with Riegel Textiles for 16 years, KenBar Manufacturing for 13 years and in the saddle industry for 6 years. Mr. Lockman enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and hotrods of all kinds. Most of all, however, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lockman was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lockman Hardman.
Survivors include wife, whom he married on July 01, 1978, Margaret Holbrooks Lockman of Mt. Airy; son & daughter-in-law, Timothy & Jennifer Lockman of Pendergrass; daughters & sons-in-law, Miranda & Eugene Kemp of Alto and Melissa & David Heddleson of Mt. Airy; six grandchildren and one on the way; sisters & brothers-in-law, Mary & Forrest Derochie of Hiawassee and Karen & Ashley Moody of Maggie Valley, North Carolina.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ronald Wilson and Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Mote officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
