MR. JOSEPH BERTIE “JOEY” SMITH, age 56 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at the Habersham Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Smith was born in Stephens County, Georgia on November 05, 1955. He was a son of Joseph Travis Smith of Cleveland, Georgia and the late Frances Emmaline Savage Smith. Mr. Smith was a logger by trade, a great father, grandfather, loved spending time outdoors, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors in addition to his father include: sons, Casey Daniel Smith, Baldwin, GA; Joseph Walter Smith, Eastanollee, GA; daughter, Jessica Nicole Smith, Toccoa, GA; brothers, Ira Smith, Rev. Ralph Smith, both of Baldwin, GA; Marvin Smith, James Smith, both of Demorest, GA; sister, Janet Carol Whitfield, Demorest, GA; 5 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 4:00 pm Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Safe Harbor Church of God.
The family will receive friends at Safe Harbor Church of God from 2-4 pm on Sunday.
