Joseph Norton Stephens, Sr., age 87 of Baldwin, passed away Sunday, June 09, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on March 27, 1926, in Hawkinsville, GA, he was a son of the late Clarence Paul and Lettie Cheek Stephens. Mr. Stephens was the owner and operator of Stephens Television and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cornelia. He was also a United States Air Force and Navy veteran. He had resided in Baldwin for the past 25 years since moving from Dawson, GA.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stephens was also preceded in death by his wife, Tena Powers Stephens and a brother, Clarence Paul Stephens, Jr.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Joseph N. “Joe”, Jr. and Donna Stephens of Peachtree City, GA; daughter, Pattie Stephens of Baldwin; sister, Emily Haynes of Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Stefanie Stephens and Brett Stephens.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9-11 am on Wednesday prior to the service .
