JOYCE LEE STREETER TOWNSEND, age 70 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
Born in St. Lawrence, New York on December 5, 1946 she was a daughter of the late William Chester and Kathleen Murdock Streeter. Mrs. Townsend was a retired custodian from North Habersham Middle School. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and Elvis. She also enjoyed watching western movies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Townsend; brother, William R. Streeter; nephews, Willy Streeter and Scott Bone.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Townsend (Holly) of Baldwin, GA; step daughters, Shanda Townsend Hatcher (Jody), Patricia Townsend all of Demorest, GA; sister, Sharmain Bone of Dallas, GA; sister, Charleen Tidwell of Douglasville, GA; sister, Patsy Dennis of New York; grandchildren, Dillan Hatcher of Talmo, GA and Chelsey Lewis of Demorest; great grandchildren, Kinley Hatcher and Hayden Hatcher.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
