Lois Eleanor Abney Edwards, age 97 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016.
Born in Haralson County, Georgia on July 8, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Abney and Margaret Eleanor McRae Abney. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Reece F. Edwards; brothers, Dewey Velton Abney, Oliver Franklin Abney, and Jeff Abney; sisters, Martha Louise Monroe, Gladys Abney, and Mary Newman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are sons, Ralph Edwards and Jimmy Edwards both of Cornelia; also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 2:00 pm Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Butch Franklin and Rev. Ray Turpin officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Saturday.
