Louis Edward Eldridge

Louis Edward Eldridge, age 86 of Porterdale, passed away on Monday, May 05, 2014 at the Georgia War Veteran’s Home in Milledgeville, Georgia following an extended illness.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 02, 1928, he was a son of the late Arthur Phillip &Mary Frances Carpenter Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and United States Army where he served our country proudly. He was retired after many years as an Information Specialist with the Georgia Department of Affairs. Mr. Eldridge was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Newton County, a member of the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, and also a member of the Cotton Indian Mineral Society as well as the Georgia Mineral Society.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Flanigan Eldridge, sisters, Catherine Waters, & Ruth White.

Survivors include his daughter, Elaine Brown, Jefferson, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Louis Edward & Julia Eldridge, Bogart, GA; son, Denver Cameron Eldridge, Weston, FL; grandchildren, Jason Brown, Pendergrass, GA; Chris Brown, Jefferson, GA; Melissa & Kamilla Eldridge, both of Bogart, GA; America Eldridge, of KY; a host of other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 08, 2014 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewey Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in the V.F.W. Memorial Park Cemetery in Demorest with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post # 84, the Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter # 15, and the Georgia National Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday.
