Lumeril “Merle” Morris, age 63 of Demorest, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017.
Born in Demorest, Georgia on August 3, 1953, she was a daughter of Lillian Dodd of Alto, Georgia and the late Leroy Dodd. Mrs. Morris was of the Holiness faith. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking and collecting recipes, but mostly, memorizing the Scriptures.
In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Lee Morris, Jr.; and sister, Janice Hicks.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Merle Lovell of Alto; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin & Joy Dodd of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Denise & Jeff Lovell of Alto; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11am Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Jeff Lovell and Rev. Jacob Armour officiating. Interment will follow in the Dodd Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
