Marie Hunter Purcell, age 75, of Cornelia, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at her residence.
Born on August 20, 1939, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Josie Garrett Hunter. Mrs. Purcell was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Duckhead Manufacturing. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and her beloved Shih Tzu, Precious.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Purcell was also preceded in death by her husband, John Elijah Purcell; brothers, James, Tommy and Kenneth Hunter.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Randy Mizer of Commerce, Gail and Wayne Murphy of Alto and Tammy and Todd Reed of Cleveland; brothers, Bobby Hunter and David Hunter both of Cornelia; sister, Pauline Chitwood of Mauldin, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Barrs, Rev. James Lyons and Chaplain Tommy Childress officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
