Martha Joan Allen Nix, age 50, of Demorest, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at her residence.
Born in Demorest, GA on November 12, 1960, she was a daughter of Martha Ann Ansley Allen and the late John Ed Allen. Mrs. Nix was a member of Good News Baptist Church. She was a secretary most of her adult life and was the Plant Coordinator for Eddy West in Toccoa, when she took a leave of absence. She enjoyed collecting lighthouses, crocheting, yard selling and singing. Joan sang for many years with her mother and father as the “Melodyaires”.
In addition to her mother survivors include husband, Raymond Eston Nix of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Matt Wooley and Kim York; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Jason Farlow, Beth and Justin Anderson; brother, Richard Ed Allen of Mt Airy, brother and sister-in-law, Michael Shawn and Amy Elizabeth Allen of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa Ann and Wesley Armour of Alto; three grandchildren, Dalton Cobb, Michael Farlow, Gabriel Anderson, eight nieces, Makayla Bingham, Savannah Armour, Jamie Armour, Jessie Armour, Mallory Armour, Courtney Brooke Allen, Madison Allen and Breelyn Allen.
Funeral services are 11 am Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Good News Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Kelley and Rev. Carlous Abernathy, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Good News Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday and Friday.
