Mary McClellan Carmichael, age 86 of Clarkesville, passed away March 19, 2015.
Born in Wauchula, Florida on October 20, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Moses Lamb McClellan and Mary Clifford Underhill McClellan. Mrs. Carmichael was a retired registered nurse and a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, where she was active in the Walk-In Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Perry Carmichael of Clarkesville; daughters, Anita D. Chaney of Clarkesville, Laura Carmichael of Athens, and Mary Catherine Pousner of Decatur; son, John Edward Douglas of Wauchula, FL, Grant Perry Carmichael, Jr. of Pebble Beach, CA, Dr. Patrick Reid Carmichael of Gainesville, FL, and Thomas Saffold Carmichael of Clarkesville; brother, Moses Phillip McClellan of DeBary, FL; sister, Bessie Brantley of Okeechobee, FL; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 3 pm Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Smith and Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Mrs. Carmichael will lie in state from 2 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Saturday.
