Miriam Gibby Kinsey

Miriam “Gibby” Kinsey, age 68 of Gainesville and formerly of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on September 10, 1948 she was the daughter of the late Clyde & Mae Brady Gibby. Mrs. Kinsey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville where she was active in the Seekers Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Kinsey graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She also attained a master’s degree of nursing along with a master’s degree of business administration from Georgia State College. She was employed with Northeast Georgia Health System as well as various other health systems in the South. She was formally the Vice President of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Mrs. Kinsey was the Chief Nursing Officer for the Baptist Health Systems, which covered a total of five hospitals, in San Antonio, Texas. Her last employment before becoming diagnosed with MS was with Columbia HCA Corporate Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Max Wayne Gibby.
Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, William Eddie Kinsey of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin C. & Sue Gibby of Anchorage, AK; aunt, Katie Williams of Alto; brother-in-law & spouse, Jerry & Joyce Kinsey of Gainesville; nephews, Billy Gibby of Anchorage, AK, Jason Kinsey and Todd Kinsey both of Gainesville; niece, Lisa Allison of Gainesville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Rev. Bruce Fields and Rev. John Mark Carpenter officiating. Entombment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:30 pm on Tuesday at McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia and also from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville.
