Nannie Brookshire

Nannie Rose Lyons Brookshire, age 88 of Demorest, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at her residence.
Born in Towns County on September 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Collins Lyons. Mrs. Brookshire was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She loved her church and enjoyed going to gospel singings, especially hearing her great granddaughter Lexi sing. She also enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brookshire was also preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Hawthorne Brookshire; sisters, Mary Lou Mathis and Ethel Rogers.
Survivors include daughter, Doris Brookshire of Demorest; granddaughters and spouses, Candace and Humberto Romero of Demorest and Christin and Jesse Henry of Toccoa; sister, Irene Gibson of Villa Rica; brother-in-law, Leroy Brookshire of West End, NC; great grandchildren, Alexis Barron and Aron Romero both of Demorest; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services are 3:00 pm Friday, November 30, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Barker, Rev. Charles Holland and Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am til 2:30 pm on Friday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Nannie Brookshire Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.
