Nellie Mae Gerrells Ivester, age 93, of Cornelia, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Habersham Home West, following an extended illness.
Born in White County, GA on June 21, 1918, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Lou Anner Nelms Gerrells. In addition to her parents Mrs. Ivester was also preceded in death by her husband, William C. Ivester. Mrs. Ivester was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and was a former employee of Carwood Manufacturing.
Survivors include daughter, Inez Glenn of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Dennis Hopper of Demorest; brother, Terrell Gerrells of Demorest; sisters, Mary Simmemon of Demorest and Annie Belle Wade of Alto; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Gene Batson and Rev. James Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Level Grove Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Yarber officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-9 pm Friday.
