Norris Free, age 79 of Clarkesville, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
Born in Clarkesville, on June 10, 1936, he was a son of the late Vance Adrian and Minnie Dean Free. Mr. Free was currently employed with the Habersham County Board of Education as a school bus driver with 31 years of service. He was member of Macedonia Baptist Church who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and playing string music, especially the guitar and banjo.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother, Gerald Free.
Survivors include wife of 60 years, Merle Spivey Free of Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Teresa Free of Clarkesville, Terry Free of Cornelia and Gregg and Anita Free of Clarkesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Benton and Lenell Free and Rev. Larry and Deborah Free all of Clarkesville; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Free and Peggy and Cosby Barron all of Clarkesville; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 11 am Thursday, March 3, 2016, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Larry Free officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
