Raymond E. Dill, age 72 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Habersham Home West.
Born in Habersham County on May 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Arnold Edward and Bertha Smith Dill. He was a self-employed mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed racing motorcycles, panning for gold, but most importantly helping others. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James Everett Dill.
Survivors include wife of 51 years, Jessie Allen Dill; daughters and sons-in-law, Lora & Glenn Lewis of Toccoa, Donna & Dr. J. Michael Shirley of Cornelia and Karen & Ronald Bryson of Mt. Airy; sister, Virginia Pitts of Cornelia; also 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Interment will follow in Hazel Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Sunday.
