Richard James Rensing, Sr, age 74 of Alto, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 18, 1944, he was a son of the late James W. Rensing and Catherine Van Pelt Rensing. Mr Rensing retired as a production supervisor with Hettich Manufacturing. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, enjoyed woodworking and golf, and also attended St. Mark Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepson, Norbe Perez.
Surviving are his wife, Fior Rensing of Alto; children and spouses, Rich & Becky Rensing of McKinney, TX, Debbie & William Cook of Cornelia, and Steven & Laurie Rensing of Wake Forrest, NC; seven grandchildren; brother, Robert Rensing of Burlington, NC; sister, Marion Pratt of Newburg, Oregon.
Memorial services are 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham Co American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the service hour.
