Robert C. “Sonny” Ansley, Sr. age 85, of Cornelia, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023.

Born on October 26, 1937, in Toccoa, he was a son of the late Robert Ansley and Alpha Edmonds Ansley. Mr. Ansley was a retired insurance agent, who in previous years served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Additionally, Sonny was also a school bus driver for some time, worked at Lockheed, and as a Bail Bondsman. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, and a regular at Waffle House in Cornelia, where he enjoyed conversation, and never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Otis Ansley; and a sister, Florene Ansley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Brenda Norris Ansley of the home; children and spouses, Robert “Bobby” Ansley, Jr. (Donna) of Winder, Steven Ansley (Barbara) of Alto, Anita Malone (Keith) of Gainesville, Roy Alfred Carl IV of McDonough, Robert Andrew “Drew” Carl (Alexis) of Covington, Runell Riley (Timothy) of Ila, and Rebecca Ansley of Cornelia; grandchildren, Steven Ansley Alec Ansley, Reagan Malone, Kirklyn Malone, Taylor Malone, and Gatlin Riley; great-grandchild, Ford Malone; brother, Andrew Scotty Ansley of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, in the Chapel of McGahee ~ Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by The Grant-Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the funeral home.
