Robert Allen Goodson, age 89, of Alto, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on March 21, 1924 in Habersham County, Georgia, he was a son of the late Rev. E.C. and Lela Roberts Goodson. Mr. Goodson was a member of Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church and was the owner and operator of Northeast Georgia Produce for 20 years. He was also a WWII U.S. Army veteran. In his spare time, Mr. Goodson enjoyed gardening, traveling, bird watching and antiques, especially old guns.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goodson was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Kim Goodson; brothers, Leon, Coy, Guy and Ernest Goodson; sister, Bernice Goodson.
Survivors include wife of 62 years, Margaret Lomax Goodson of Alto; sons, Bobby Goodson and Danny Goodson both of Alto; brothers, Noyl Goodson, Ralph Goodson and Howard Goodson all of Alto; sister, May Belle White and Lavonne Martin both of Alto; grandchild, Robbie Goodson of Alto.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Tony Royston, Rev. Wayne Hicks and Rev. Greg Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Tuesday.
