ROBERT CHARLES UNDERWOOD, age 54 of Alto, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on July 17, 1962, he was the son of Ruth Hart Underwood of Alto, Georgia & the late Charles Efford “Buddy” Underwood. Mr. Underwood worked for many years at Mount Vernon Mills. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, & camping. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur P. Underwood & Viattie Underwood, Will & Josephine Hart,uncles & aunts, Luther & Kathleen Underwood, Lee & Betty Jean Underwood, Noah Underwood, Loy Underwood, and Eugene Underwood, Winnie & Gene Echols, Ruby Thompson, uncles & aunts, Roe & Lurlene Hart, Lionel & Irma Hart, Archie & Maxine Hart, Nathaniel & Shirley Hart, Harold Crumley.
Survivors in addition to his mother include, daughter, Derra C. Underwood of Gainesville, GA; uncles & aunts, Kenneth & Geraldine Hart of Cornelia, GA; Grady & Gail Hart of Alto, GA; Pauline Underwood of Mt. Airy, GA; Mozell York of Atlanta, GA; Hazel Crumley of Forest Park, GA; as well as numerous cousins, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 02, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. John Umberhant, Rev. Sanford Kimbrell, & Mr. Bruce Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
