Roy Grier, age 77, of Alto, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020.
Born on March 2, 1943, in Cornelia, he was a son of the late Alvin B. and Belle Armour Grier. Mr. Grier was formerly employed with at New Holland Textile. He attended the former Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Roy enjoyed gardening, flowers, yard work and loved to be outdoors and embrace nature.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: A.M. Grier, Dillard “Bud” Grier, Garnett Grier, Van Grier, Lemuel Grier, Wiley Grier, and Otis Grier and sister, Dorothy Ward.
Survivors include his sisters, Geraldine Grier of Alto and Ruth Swann of Clifton Forge, VA; brothers, Alvin Junior Grier of Alto and E.D. Grier of Alto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2020, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Fish officiating. Interment will follow in the former Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery on Mud Creek Road in Alto.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
