Ruby J. Tench, age 93, of Alto, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on January 18, 1920, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Garnett and Lydia Fortenberry Yearwood. Mrs. Tench was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Phil Tench; daughter and son-in-law, Frances Tench Armstead (Bill); daughter-in-law, Frances Chitwood Tench; several brothers, sisters and nephews.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John Wayne Tench (Lisa) of Alto and Freddy Tench (Julie) of Toccoa; daughter, Charlotte Tench of Alto; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Mary Leonard and Rev. Glen Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Cemetery with Mr. Keith Ferguson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Tuesday.
