Shirley F. Wood, age 67, of Cornelia, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at her residence.
Born in Franklin NC, on June 24, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Pearl Huccinson Frady. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Wood and brother, Sammy Frady.
Mrs. Wood lived most of her life in Habersham and was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from Lee Arrendale State Prison where she served as a correctional officer. She enjoyed camping, staying at the lake, flower gardening and eating at the Deer Lodge. Shirley was a collector of lighthouses, snowmen, nutcrackers and bears.
Survivors include husband, Donald Wood; son, Ronald Wood of Cornelia; daughter, Teresa Wood Franklin of Turnerville; 2 grandchildren, Alexander Franklin and Aric Franklin and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Denver Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday.
