Stella Mae Burrell Norton, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County on January 21, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Johnathan “John” Burrell and Frances Maybelle Loudermilk Burrell. Mrs. Norton retired from Clarkesville Mill with 27 years of service. She was an active member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Norton; brothers, Lloyd and Bill Burrell; sisters, Senna Starr and Minnie Shore.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, David & Marsha Norton of Mt. Airy and Douglas & Sue Norton of Alabaster, AL; grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Norton, Charles (Lisa) Norton, and Eric Norton; great grandson, Chase Norton; brother, Garnett Burrell of Clarkesville; sisters, Monteree Norton of Toccoa, Irene Poole of Chamblee, and Wilma Mullinax of Mt. Airy.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Lyons and Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday.
