Virgil Marlow Loudermilk, age 82 of Mt Airy, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Habersham County on September 09, 1929, he was a son of the late Dewey and Laura LaCount Loudermilk. Mr. Loudermilk was a member of the Mt Airy Baptist and retired from the City of Mt Airy where he served as the Chief of Police. After his retirement he served as city manager and consultant for the City of Mt Airy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Doug Loudermilk; 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Keller Loudermilk of Mt Airy; daughter, Jeanette Loudermilk; sons, Danny Loudermilk of Clayton, Ronnie “Bones” Loudermilk of Mt Airy, James Loudermilk of Toccoa; brother, Telford Loudermilk; sisters, Wallace Craven of Mt Airy, Henrietta Faulkner of Mt Airy, Lois Keller of Mt Airy and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11 am Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ken Phillips and Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery in Mt Airy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday.
