Virginia W. Turpin, age 80, of Lula, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014.
Born in Gwinnett County on March 22, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Guy White and Sarah Hunnicutt White. Mrs. Turpin was retired from New Holland Mill and was of the Methodist faith. She loved working puzzles and word searches and enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turpin was also preceded in death by her husband, Otha Leroy Turpin, Sr.; daughter, Charlotte Holbrooks; son-in-law, Deward Ausborn; brother, Leland White; grandchildren, Chasity and Casey Turpin .
Survivors include sons, Pete Turpin, Jr. (Carol) and Henry Turpin all of Lula, William Turpin (Ann) of Eastanollee; daughters, Martha Ausborn of Toccoa, Charlene Ayers (David) of Commerce; son-in-law, Jack Holbrooks of Toccoa; brother, Ray White of Lula; sister, Sue Holbrooks of Toccoa; 15 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ray Turpin and Rev. Doug Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Lula.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
